Drummer + Educator + Father

Corey Colmey is an active educator, performer, clinician and drumset recording artist based in central NY.  He has three wonderful kids and resides in upstate NY.

His teaching experience includes private lessons for drum set, concert percussion, world percussion, as well as ensemble programs for children and adults. In 2016, Corey co-founded the organization Lead With Rhythm. In addition to his current teaching posts at Utica College and Herkimer College, he currently runs Corey Colmey Drum Instruction, a private teaching practice in Rome, NY where students of all ages can come to study drumming in a relaxed atmosphere.

As a performer, he's traveled all over the US and abroad, sharing the stage with artists including G Koop, Fiber, Edan, Solstir, Don Grusin, Jeff Palmer, Rick Montalbano, Joe Magnarelli, Swamiko, Cooter Stew and Marc Seales.

As a recording artist, he has collaborated with Swamiko, The Live and Breathe, Heatwarmer, Bad Cello, Fading Collection, Suit of Lights, Victoria Vox, and Benjamin Wright.

Corey’s most recent projects are with Live and Breathe, a collaboration with Berklee College of Music classmates Benjamin Wright and Christian Arthur.
