ATTENTION PARENTS AND STUDENTS: NYSSMA Info

ATTENTION PARENTS AND STUDENTS:

As you know, several of the students and I have been diligently working on our prepared solo and rudiments for this year’s upcoming NYSSMA Festival. If you aren’t participating in NYSSMA this year, and would like to, it’s not too late. Contact me ASAP for more info.

For those that are participating, I have received the following information. Here are the dates and locations for the NYSSMA Festival 2018.

Levels I, II, III, IV – Will take place in Clinton, NY on May 11 & 12
Levels V, VI – Will take place in Central Valley, NY on May 18 & 19

Unfortunately, I cannot personally register anyone as NYSSMA is a NY state music program, and I don’t teach music in the schools. 🙁 What you need to do is contact your child’s school music teacher. If your school has an instrumental program, the band or orchestra teacher should be your first contact. If they cannot register you, they will point you to who can.

ROME CITY SCHOOL NYSSMA PARTICIPANTS:

Grades K-6 should register with Bob Verminski rverminski@romecsd.org
Grades 7-8 should register with Anne Gannon (Staley) agannon@romecsd.org
Grades 9-12 should register with Jake Meiss (RFA) jmeiss@romecsd.org

PLEASE REMEMBER:

All participants are required to bring their own snare drum, a concert snare stand (or a stand that adjust high enough so they can stand when they play). Snare drum has to be at waist level. And most importantly, please bring 2 original copies of their solo. One is for the judge, and the other is for the student.

TRANSPORTATION, TIME/DAY, ETC:

After they have been registered, they will be given a specific date, time and location. Students must arrange their own transportation to and from the NYSSMA site. Depending on the date/time/locations of the students, I hope to be able to attend some of the auditions.
